- 120g grated cheddar per ball
- Primula Cheese & Ham per ball
- Fresh chives, chopped very small (optional)

- Black pepper to taste
- Garlic OR Chilli Just Add Herb Tubes to taste
- An electric mixer
- Greaseproof paper
Method
Garlic, Cheese & Chive
Method:
- Combine the cheddar and Primula Cheese & Chives, garlic paste and ½ tablespoon of black pepper using an electric mixer for up to 2 minutes. Remember, too much of the garlic will make the mix too runny, so be sparing.
- Wet your hands, then shape the mixture into a ball.
- Spread out the chopped chives and the remainder of the black pepper on a surface and roll the ball around in it until it’s coated.
- Once shaped into balls, wrap up in greaseproof paper and leave them to properly set in the fridge for at least four hours.
B&M Top Tip: If the cheese ball is too soft or wet to roll around, wrap it in greaseproof paper and leave to chill in the fridge for around half an hour. At this stage, it should have solidified enough to complete the process.
Bacon & Ham
Method:
- Combine the cheddar and Primula Cheese & Ham and ½ tablespoon of black pepper using an electric mixer for up to 2 minutes.
- Wet your hands, then shape the mixture into a ball.
- Spread out the bacon bits and the remainder of the black pepper on a surface and roll the ball around in it until it’s coated.
- Once shaped into balls, wrap up in greaseproof paper and leave them to properly set in the fridge for at least four hours.
B&M Top Tip: For more of a kick, choose unsmoked back bacon and add a dab of mustard and/or a little chilli paste from our Just Add Herbs tubes.
If you're taking your creations out for National Picnic Day, it’s best to keep them cool and protected, so popping them in tupperware and carrying them in a quality cool bag will keep them fresh and intact!
This double recipe works perfectly as picnic finger food when paired with our delicious cheese rice crackers.
