York Welcomes New B&M Store
14 September 2018
York welcomed B&M with open arms again this morning with a brand new store opening on Foss Island Retail Park.
The new store is a boost to the local community with dozens of jobs created for people from the area.
Visitors to the store will be able to browse a wide range of branded and own label goods, including toys, groceries, health & beauty and pet ranges.
As part of the opening day celebrations, the store staff were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment, so picked The Island.
They provide a number of mentoring services to children and young people aged 8-13, and to disabled young people aged 8-18, who are based in York.
Each child or young person is then linked with one of their fully-trained volunteer mentors, who, by means of weekly activity sessions, offer them, consistent one to one support over a period of 12 months.
In addition to opening the new store, they were given £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for all of their hard work in the community.
The store manager, Darren Pettit, said: “The team from The Island really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the local community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”
He also commented: “Our new colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day, so we can’t wait to show customers their brand new B&M.”
