Sunderland Foodbank Opens New B&M Store Following Relocation
06 February 2021
Customers were delighted in Sunderland this morning, as their local B&M store opened following a small relocation.
The staff - which has grown by 30 thanks to the bigger space - left their previous location at the end of January, and have now moved into the new store, located on Pallion Retail Park, just a short walk away.
The new store has almost doubled in size compared to the last one, with over 33,000 sq. ft. of sales space, offering an even bigger selection of the variety retailer’s great selection of branded and own label products in-store, as well as garden essentials outdoors.
With everything from toys and homewares to groceries and pet, there’s plenty of items for visitors to the B&M store to shop.
The new colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity to they think deserved some VIP treatment, and they chose Sunderland Foodbank.
Sunderland Foodbank are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by the Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. The charity provides three-day nutritionally balanced emergency food and support for individuals and families in Sunderland.
In addition to opening the new store, the charity were handed £250 worth of vouchers to spend in-store.
The store manager at B&M Pallion said: “Sunderland Foodbank really stood out for us so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done, especially during the pandemic. We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work.”
They also commented: “Our colleagues have worked really hard to get the store ready for opening day, and we can't wait to show customers their brand new B&M store.”
