Shrewsbury Completes Long-Awaited Reopening on Lancaster Retail Park
11 October 2018
Customers were delighted this morning as they were finally able to shop around their new-look Shrewsbury B&M store.
The store, located on Lancaster Retail Park, has been undergoing refitting work to make it bigger and better for customers.
During 12 weeks of work, the store has been transformed to allow more products on the shelves, as well as a brand new fresh and frozen food range.
At the grand reopening, colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they thought deserved some VIP treatment, and they chose Shrewsbury Food Hub, who were given £250 vouchers to spend in-store as a reward for all of their hard work in the community.
The charity collects surplus food and redistributes it to local community groups such as Severn Hospice and Shrewsbury Ark. This free food improves diets and saves local groups more than 30% of their food budget.
Maurice Tranter, Store Manager at B&M Shrewsbury, said: “We wanted to make our store bigger and better for our customers so we can become a one-stop-shop for them.
“They will now be able to pick up everything they need under one roof, from a tin of beans to bedding sets, and now chicken nuggets and rump steaks can be added to the shopping list, too.
She added: "The team from Shrewsbury Food Hub really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the local community. We wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
“We hope that our donation can help them to continue their great work.”
