The Leeds South & East Food Bank were VIPs this morning at the unveiling of B&M's brand new Rothwell store in Leeds.
As part of the opening day process, colleagues nominated the local charity to thank them for all of the hard work they do for the community. As a further thank you from B&M, the Food Bank were given £250 worth of vouchers to go towards the charity.
The charity work to provide three days’ emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussel Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
After extensive work on the former Heron store, 12 people have been hired in addition to 8 from Heron.
The store contains a wide range of branded products, including toys, food & drink, homeware, pet products, health & beauty and seasonal.
The store manager, Katie Wetherill, said: “The team at Leeds South and East Food Bank really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for local people in the community, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”
She also commented: “Our new colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day, and we can’t wait to show customers their brand new B&M.”
