Liverpool Welcomes New B&M Store on Great Homer Street
25 October 2017
There was a lot of excitement in Liverpool today as Great Homer Street became the latest location for a new B&M store.
The latest addition to B&M's portfolio in the region comes as a huge boost to the local economy, creating 80 jobs for people from the area.
Visitors to the store, located on the New District Centre, will be able to browse a wide range of branded and own label goods, including toys, groceries, health & beauty and pet ranges.
The store also boasts an extensive DIY, decorating and furniture range, as well as its very own garden centre.
As part of the opening day celebrations, B&M employees invited local charity, The Whitechapel Centre, to be their VIP for the day, while local Mayor Cllr Joe Anderson was also in attendance.
The team aim to prevent and resolve homelessness in Liverpool, they work with homeless people who need help to pick up their lives and move forward – this includes people who are sleeping rough, living in hostels or struggling to manage their accommodation.
Through their amazing services they find solutions that work best for each individual they meet so that they can get out of homelessness and back into the community. Last year, the charity worked with 2,814 people to end or prevent their homelessness.
As a thank you for taking part in the opening day proceedings, and for all of their hard work in the local community, the charity received £250 worth of B&M vouchers.
The store manager, Neil Creed, said: “The team from The Whitechapel Centre really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the local homeless people, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”
He also commented: “The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we can’t wait to get the doors open Wednesday and show customers their new B&M Great Homer Street.”
Paul Batho, Projects Director for St. Modwen, said: “We are pleased to see B&M opening, a local retailer and the first of the retail units in the new district centre to start trading.
“B&M will enhance the choice of retail on offer in the Great Homer Street area and follows soon after the opening of Sainsbury’s earlier this year.”
