Liverpool Lights Up as Another B&M Store Opens in City
30 July 2015
B&M has created further jobs in Merseyside after opening yet another new store in the area.
The new B&M Home Store will help to increase the region’s standing as one of the retailer’s central hubs.
A total of 75 jobs have been created at the former B&Q on Edge Lane Retail Park, which came as a welcome boost to local job seekers.
In attendance at the store’s opening ceremony were representatives from Tom Harrison House, who were B&M’s Local Hero for the day.
This is a B&M initiative which highlights the work that an organisation or individual has done in their local area.
In addition to cutting the ribbon on the new store, the charity were also awarded £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for their contributions.
Tom Harrison House is a specialist facility which provides addiction treatment exclusively to military veterans, reservists, emergency personnel and their families.
Providing trauma-informed addiction treatment, the charity’s programme runs over a 12-week period and includes a diverse range of recovery-focused activities and therapeutic groups.
Representatives from Tom Harrison House were on hand to bag pack on the opening day and they will also be back on Saturday 1st August – as they attempt to raise funds to continue their incredible work.
Also appearing at the opening was the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Tony Concepcion, who helped to make the event a memorable one for all involved.
The magic of opening day extends to the weekend as well, with appearances from the stars of Disney’s Frozen, balloon giveaways and a face painter all scheduled to appear on Saturday.
Having only recently celebrated their 450th store opening, B&M is continuing to surge towards number 500 – with 5 store openings in the UK in this week alone.
