Excitement in Ebbw Vale as New B&M Opens
10 November 2016
B&M opened its new Ebbw Vale store on Thursday, bringing the retailer’s big brand discounts to a new area.
Taking over the former B&Q store on Brunswick Construction Site, the variety retailer has created 40 jobs for local people.
The brand new Home store will allow customers to browse a variety of products, with everything from toys to food & drink.
There will also be an extensive DIY, decorating and furniture range as well as a garden centre, to help keep keen gardeners and DIY enthusiasts happy.
As part of B&M’s Local hero initiative, given to an individual or organisation who has made an important contribution to their local community, B&M colleagues invited along The Hospice of the Valleys.
The hospice cares for more than 500 patients every year, with a team of specialist palliative care professionals dedicated to providing hospice care.
They help them to live as actively as possible after diagnosis to the end of their lives, however long that may be, and the highest value is put on respect, choice and quality of life.
As well as opening the new store, the hospice also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part in the celebrations.
Also in attendance was the Mayor of Blaenau Gwent, Councillor Barrie Sutton, who gratefully accepted B&M’s offer to help open the store.
A spokesperson from B&M said: “We’ve been feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.
“We have all been really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door today.”
The opening day fun will extend to the weekend, with visitors to the store on Saturday able to participate in B&M’s gameshow, with star prizes available for the winners.
