B&M Thrilled to Open Long Awaited Discount Store in Huntingdon
22 March 2024
The people of Huntingdon were delighted on Friday the 22nd of March, when their long awaited brand new B&M store opened. Located on Saint Germain Walk the new store is right in the heart of the town centre ready to deliver for the local people.
After B&M took possesion of a previous Wilko store they transformed the space in to over 17,000sqft of high quality shopping space. The new store also created 48 jobs for the local area bringing a welcome boost to the local economy.
The extensive internal and external refurbishment provides space for a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink and pet food. There is also a fantastic selection of quality health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and plenty more to explore.
The colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community. They chose the team from Godmanchester Foodbank charity to take centre stage and officially unveil the new B&M store.
Godmanchester Foodbank is a charity that is founded by local churches and community groups, which are working together towards stopping hunger in their local area. They provide three days of balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. In 2022 they helped 2,349 adults and 1,856 children who needed support, to ensure that nobody in the Huntingdon area goes hungry. Additionally, the foodbank works closely with a wide range of professional agencies and care professionals which they can refer clients to, with the aim of solving longer-term problems.
In addition to opening the store, the team will also receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers, which will go towards helping the charity to continue doing the great work they do.
The store manager, said: “It was really exciting to welcome customers through the doors; the feedback so far has been fantastic.”
“A big thank you to the team at Godmanchester Foodbank who helped us open the store; we hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do.”
