B&M Sets up Shop in Glossop with Frozen & Fresh Food Range
29 October 2018
Glossop welcomed the arrival of its very own B&M store, as the discount retailer opened its doors in the town for the first time on Saturday.
The addition to B&M's portfolio in the region comes as a huge boost to the local economy, with 15 jobs created for people from the town. The former Co-Op store has been completely refurbished and 35 staff members have now joined the B&M family, too.
Visitors to the store on Norfolk Street will be able to browse a wide range of branded and own label goods, including toys, groceries, health & beauty and pet ranges.
As part of the opening celebrations, local charity Reuben's Retreat were invited along as their VIP guests for the day, as well as local mayor, Cllr Linda Grooby.
The team’s goal is to provide a retreat in the North West that relieves the distress of families and their close friends who have suffered the bereavement of a child or have a child suffering from a life-limiting or life threatening illness.
In addition to opening the new store, the foundation were handed £250 worth of B&M voucher to spend in-store, as a thank you for all of the hard work they do in the community.
Store manager, Damien Hey, said: “The team from The Reuben’s Retreat really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the local community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”
He also commented: “Our new colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day, we can’t wait to get the doors open Saturday and show customers their brand new B&M.”
