Ashby Gateway Welcomes B&M Store with more than 50 Hired
27 November 2019
Ashby De La Zouch has welcomed B&M to the region with more than 50 locals hired at the new location on Ashby Gateway.
Eager customers queued on Wednesday morning, keen to be the first customers through B&M's doors.
Following recent flooding in the area, Ashby Willesley Primary School were nominated by store colleagues to officially open the new store after becoming victims to the flooding. £250 worth of vouchers were donated to help get the school back on its feet.
Adults and children had to be rescued from the primary school by firefighters after it was surrounded by flood water. Some of the school’s classrooms were destroyed and, as a result, this affected the pupils being able to go to school.
Alongside the school, the Local Mayor, Cllr Graham Allman, was also in attendance.
The store contains a wide range of branded products, including toys, food & drink, homeware, pet products, health & beauty and seasonal.
The store manager, Jasmine Keel, said: “When we heard about what happened to Ashby Willesley Primary School, we jumped at the chance to help.
“We wanted to give them some VIP treatment as well as a donation to help them get the school back up and running properly.”
She also added: “Our new colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day, and we can’t wait to show customers their brand new B&M.”
