It’s easy to run out of summer activities for kids during the school holidays. After all, you have a whole six weeks to keep your kids entertained before the new academic year starts!

So, in order to help you and your family have a great summer together, the team at B&M has come up with some super fun activities for both sunny and rainy days - whether you have younger or older children.

Get Them Moving with an Outdoor Games Tournament

Outdoor play is a great way to keep kids fit and healthy and give them some all-important vitamin D. Kids will love active ideas like games tournaments - whether it’s an obstacle course, foam bullet warfare or target practice, radio controlled vehicle races or anything besides!

Create Some Competition with an Outdoor Treasure Hunt

There’s plenty of outdoor fun to be had with a treasure hunt! Create a map, leave clues and set them off on their quest to find treats or prizes.

Activities like this take a little preparation, but they can keep kids busy for hours!

Inspire Their Creativity with Arts and Crafts

When a rainy day gets in the way of outdoor activities, there’s still plenty of summer fun to be had indoors!

Set up an easy-to-clean play space and get creative with crayons, paints, modeling clay or an exciting construction kit. Kids may also enjoy dressing up or creating some toy theatre with their favourite dolls.

Become One with Nature on a Family Hike

It’s important for kids to grow up loving and understanding the world around them - which is why exploring the great outdoors as a family is one of our favourite summer holiday activities!

Why not print out exercise sheets from the internet featuring nature-spotting challenges for your kids to complete along the way?

B&M Top Tip: Plan a route that is suitable for the abilities of your whole family, and make sure there’s lots to do along the way - such as cafes (with toilets!), playgrounds or duck ponds.

Indulge in Good Food by Cooking up Treats

A family cooking or baking session should be on every parents’ bucket list! Find easy recipes for cupcakes, muffins or similar tasty treats, stock up on sprinkles, coloured icing and edible glitter and get to work!

B&M Top Tip: Set up a pretend bakery or cafe and enjoy roleplaying as they “sell” you what they’ve made.
