Christmas sure is coming round fast this year, and we couldn’t be more excited! It’s almost time to get the decorations out from the attic, but why not make some homemade Christmas crafts this year? Kids love crafts, and what better way to keep little hands out of trouble than to make some festive creations!

We’ve had a peek at what the crafty internet folk have been up to in the lead up to Christmas, and found some unique and adorable Christmas craft ideas for kids (and big kids!).

Footprint Reindeer Christmas Card

What you’ll need:

• Card / thick paper

• Brown paint or acrylic paint

• A black marker pen

• Googly eyes (but you can use buttons, or even draw them on!)

• A red pom pom

If you’re looking for Christmas craft ideas for toddlers, this footprint reindeer Christmas card couldn’t be easier to make! Everyone loves cards that have been made by hand, so this idea is great for giving your festive cards that personal touch this Christmas. To make it more versatile, why not think of other festive characters you can make from your footprint? We think this is a fabulously festive way to make use of your old toilet paper rolls. Not only is this adorable little tree incredibly easy to make, but it also teaches your little ones about how ‘rubbish’ can be recycled into something new! Here at B&M’s, we love handmade tree decorations, so this is right up our street. Why not start collecting your old toilet rolls now and make a whole bunch as Christmas draws closer? The kids will love hanging their creations on the tree, and you’ll get little helpers to help with the decorations - perfect!

Christmas Reindeer Pot

What you’ll need:

• A plant pot

• A pair of large googly eyes

• 4 brown pipe cleaners

• A large, red pom pom

• Craft glue

• Scissors

This adorable little reindeer pot is simple to make, and is a great place to keep some Christmas treats. It also makes the perfect homemade gift for Grandparents, or anyone else who would appreciate the cuteness! Many families have at least one unused plant pot lying around, and this is a great way to make use of it. If not, you can buy one for cheap from most stores. We’re sure you could use a white plant pot to make a snowman, too!

Paper Plate Christmas Tree

These paper plate Christmas trees look adorable, and are really easy to make. The beauty of these is that you can make them look however you like, if your little one wants to get creative with a purple tree and beads instead of a green tree and pom poms - that’s okay! Anything goes with these little trees, so get your creative juices flowing and start painting. You could even use some string and hang them on your actual Christmas tree.

Pine Cone Christmas Robins

• A variety of pine cones (you can buy these from most craft shops)

• Bits of coloured felt or fabric

• Googly eyes

• Glue

• String or thread to hang the robins from your tree

These cute, googly-eyed robins are sure to get heads turning this season, and are really easy Christmas crafts to make. Young children and toddlers will love glueing various fabrics to pine cones to make these festive ‘birds’, and you could even paint the pine cones different colours for an extra bright and colourful effect. We recommend using glitter to make your robins stand out, but be warned, there’s a chance you’ll be finding glitter particles around the house well into the new year!
