Read on for some family friendly kids’ half term activities!
Spend the Night Camping in Your Garden
Engage with your kids’ sense of adventure by spending a night under the stars! Set up your tent with cosy sleeping mats and plenty of pillows, blankets and sleeping bags. You could even cook dinner on a camping stove.
Tell stories, stargaze, toast marshmallows or try some simple bushcraft - all mere feet from your home, giving you a safe haven if the weather turns!
B&M Top Tip: Take some fun outdoor toys and ride ons out with you for plenty of garden fun.
Introduce Them to New Recipes
Cooking is one of the best indoor activities for rainy half-term days. It can help to make your little ones feel grown up while introducing them to vital life skills.
Plan a family day of baking cookies or whipping up healthy snacks - then give some to loved ones or enjoy them together in front of a favourite film.
B&M Top Tip: Invest in a wipe-clean tablecloth and aprons as well as laminated recipe cards for an easy clean-up!
Get Them Outdoors
Fresh air and exercise are great for youngsters. Choose a local beauty spot with a cafe and toilets part way round for your ease, dress them in layers suitable for the weather, pack some snacks - or a picnic - and set off!
Bring a few travel-safe toys to prevent tantrums, and consider taking a ride on with a handle to give little legs a rest.
B&M Top Tip: Take some fun nature-themed activity sheets along. Wildlife Watch - an offshoot of the Wildlife Trusts - has plenty of great free options.
Treat Them to a New Toy
Reward your kids for achievements or good behaviour by picking up something cool for them to play with.
Whether they’re a L.O.L Surprise devotee, a lover of babies and animals, a tech fiend or a fan of a particular book or TV show, show you care with sweet gifts to keep your kids busy.
B&M Top Tip: If the weather is looking good, consider investing in a toy that can be used in the garden.
Get Them into Arts and Crafts
There are so many fun activities for kids to choose from when it comes to art!
From painting to paper mache and from modelling clay to outdoor chalk drawings, there’s a never-ending list of arty pastimes you can try out.
B&M Top Tip: Build their confidence and social skills by putting on a little play - or dressing up dolls and setting up a toy “theatre” - or even making a short movie on your phone!
The above should serve as a great jumping-off point to help you come up with kids’ half term activities your family will be able to enjoy time and time again!
