Whether you fancy a healthier alternative to deep frying, or you want simple and quick meals, snacks or finger foods without using a slow, energy-guzzling oven, look no further! These air fryer recipes are delicious and straightforward.
1. Airfryer mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce
These are the perfect snack, or a side dish for any wholesome meal. You’ll just need a packet of 8 cheese strings, one large egg, one cup of breadcrumbs, a pinch of salt and a sprinkle of italian seasoning.
- Simply beat the egg and pour it into one bowl, then mix the breadcrumbs, seasoning and salt in another bowl.
- Dip each mozzarella stick into the egg, then coat them with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Freeze them for an hour, then repeat the process once more.
- Set your air fryer to 200 degrees celsius and pop in the mozzarella sticks.
- Spray them with a little cooking spray to crisp them up and prevent sticking.
- Fry them for between 6 and 8 minutes, then serve with a little marinara dipping sauce and enjoy.
B&M Top Tip: To make the marinara, chop and fry a medium onion and two large garlic cloves in olive oil until light brown. Add chopped tomatoes, a teaspoon of dried oregano and a pinch of salt and simmer on low heat for 20 - 45 minutes for your ideal consistency.
2. Airfryer roast with all the trimmings
It’s impossible to make an entire air fryer fried roast dinner, right? Wrong! From air fryer steak or roast beef to air fryer potatoes, your favourite meats and veggies can be cooked to perfection using this most versatile of kitchen appliances.
Here, we’ve chosen air fried chicken - but you can replace this with your meat of choice.
- Chop up your chosen vegetables. We love carrots, green beans and roast potatoes. Potatoes should be parboiled until very slightly soft.
- Place all the veggies except the potatoes into the air fryer.
- Next, smother a whole chicken in a mix of olive oil and your favourite herbs, then place it into your air fryer on top of the veggies. Cook at 180 degrees celsius for 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, coat the potatoes with olive oil and your choice of seasonings.
- When the air fryer pings, take out the chicken and vegetables and place the latter to one side.
- Put the chicken back in the air fryer the other way up, then surround with potatoes and fry for 20 minutes, again at 180 degrees.
- Once this is done, remove the chicken and place all the veggies back in the fryer along with the potatoes. Cook these for 4 minutes while you carve the chicken.
Everything should now be ready to serve up, along with lashings of gravy!
Air fryer baked potatoes are also wonderful and quick! Just rub them with olive oil and add salt, place them in the air fryer and cook for 45-50 minutes at 200 degrees celsius. Serve buttered, with a topping of your choice.
B&M Top Tip: Look out for dual basket air fryers to cook twice as much food at once! Easily whip up a family roast dinner with ease.
3. Airfryer salmon noodles
To make delicious umami salmon, all you need is one salmon fillet per person, a good glug of soy sauce, two tablespoons of honey, two tablespoons of lime juice, one tablespoon of sriracha (or more if you like it spicy!) and a single large clove of garlic (minced).
- Mix all the ingredients together (except the salmon), then place the salmon in a ziplock bag and pour the mixture in after it to marinate it.
- Seal it and keep it in the fridge for an hour.
- Preheat your air fryer at 200 degrees celsius, then place the salmon inside to cook for between 10 and 12 minutes.
- Meanwhile, boil your required amount of egg noodles on the hob and drain when soft. Once the salmon is cooked to a nice flaky consistency, serve it over the noodles.
B&M Top Tip: Heat the leftover marinade in a saucepan for between 5 and 10 minutes on a low heat to create a sauce to drizzle over the top!
4. Airfryer tacos with chicken and pasta chips
Grab some hard taco shells, chicken breasts, your favourite taco seasoning, a tin of black beans or red kidney beans, grated mozzarella cheese - and whatever salad items you prefer, like sliced tomatoes, onions, lettuce or others.
- Cube up the chicken and fry it in an oiled pan with the beans and taco seasoning until cooked through.
- Fill the tacos with the mixture, then place them side by side in the air fryer. You only need to cook this for about five minutes at 180 degrees celsius.
- Open the fryer a minute before it’s due to finish, and sprinkle the cheese on top.
- Once they're ready, add your salad and they’re ready to eat!
B&M Top Tip: For a lovely side, boil up your favourite pasta until tender yet still firm, drain it, place it in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Add your favourite seasonings - we love parmesan, garlic powder and italian herbs. Mix it up, then cook in the air fryer for seven or eight minutes at 200 degrees celsius, shaking occasionally. Your pasta chips will now be crunchy and ready to eat!
5. Egg rolls and dipping sauce
For a simple and gorgeous recipe, you just need egg roll wrappers, grated carrots and cabbage, spring onion and minced garlic and ginger. You should also have some soy sauce to season to taste. You could also add chopped mushrooms or pulled chicken, ground beef (which should both be browned in a pan beforehand) or sliced tofu.
- Simply mix all ingredients and roll them in your egg roll wrappers, brushing the edges with water to help them stick. Brush over the tops of these joints too.
- Brush your air fryer basket with olive oil to prevent sticking, then place the rolls inside and cook for seven minutes at 180 degrees celsius.
B&M Top Tip: For an instant pot of delicious dipping sauce, mix together soy sauce, honey, red pepper flakes and minced ginger.
You can cook so many different things in an air fryer, from the sausages for your breakfast sandwiches to your favourite desserts, like brownies and marshmallow s’mores.
