B&M Proud to Open New Neath Store
05 May 2016
B&M has increased its presence in Wales with the opening of the retailer’s first store in Neath Port Talbot.
The brand new B&M Home Store & Garden Centre is situated on Riverside Drive in Neath, at the site of the former B&Q.
The convenient location will allow shoppers in the town easy access to the retailer’s wide ranges of branded and own-label goods.
They can now browse groceries, toys, seasonal items & much more, as well as a large garden centre which contains everything a keen gardener needs.
Almost 80 jobs have been created for local people in the area as a result of the new store, providing a boost for the local economy.
On hand to celebrate the opening day were representatives from Tonna Community Hospital League of Friends, who were chosen by store colleagues to be B&M’s Local Hero.
A B&M Local Hero can be an individual or organisation who have made an important contribution to their local community.
The League of Friends were formed in 1963, and since then have raised thousands of pounds from their fund raising efforts.
They use these funds to supply items which fall outside NHS funding priorities, like coach trips & picnics for long stay patients as well as items to help brighten up patient’s environment.
The Friends are also able to provide the finance to purchase special equipment for patients to receive a particular treatment locally, instead of being transferred to other hospitals.
In addition to cutting the ribbon on opening day, the group also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for attending the opening.
Also in attendance at the event was the Mayor of Neath, Councillor Janet Lockyer who was delighted to accept an invitation to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony.
There was even a special appearance from B&M’s Operations Director, Martin Roberts, helping to make the day a memorable one for all involved.
Visitors to the store on its first Saturday were also in for a treat, with a facepainter and the brand new B&M game show offering the chance for some lucky shoppers to win fantastic prizes.
